Go Green!

Do you know that our seemingly-harmless blogging activity is producing a yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 3,6kg (8lb)?

That's scientifically proven
according to a study by Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University and environmental activist.
This can mainly be tracked back to the immense energy usage from (mainframe) computers, servers, and their cooling systems.

What Can We Do: 1 blog, 1 tree
The atmosphere can be relieved by an average of 5kg (11lb.) carbon dioxide every year by planting one tree. An average blog causes 3.6kg (8lb.) of carbon dioxide emissions. Consequently, a tree neutralises the carbon dioxide emissions of a blog. Since a tree lives for an average of 50 years, carbon dioxide emissions of your blog can be completely neutralised for this time period.

Please join the "My Blog is Carbon Neutral" initiatives. It's such a worthy cause. Just a few easy steps to make it green:

1. Write a blog post about the initiative + insert your favourite button
2. E-mail the link to your post to CO2-neutral@kaufda.de
3. We plant a tree for your blog in Plumas’!

Well that is the first I have heard about this. I will plant a tree (four actually, even though I have only one blog).
Lovely post.

Yes Tuesdai, that's exactly how I felt when I first read about this. I've never even thought that my seemingly-harmless blogging activity can effect the environment that much. But it's a good think we found out a way to save the planet!

Really, Rachael? This is why I love foreign languages. They're all so much fun. I simply love languages... I think it's wonderful that my name means faith :) Thanks for letting me know...

The pleasure's all mine, Christin, and what's important is it's for a good cause! I'm honored to be of assistance to you.

Thanks S, that's the spirit!
