Measure of a Man

A man who's realized that he has someone in his heart,
should never intentionally let another woman fall for him.
A woman's heart is not a toy.
Any man who treats it like so, such is not a MAN yet; he's a boy.

Never allow someone to become a priority in your life,
when you are just another option in theirs.
Always remind yourself that you are worth more than that.
Why waste your tears on someone who makes you cry?

Slim Chips

No fat, no calories.

Have you ever looked at the nutritional information on the side of a bag of chips? 150 calories, 11 grams of fat… FOR 10 CHIPS! Can anyone here truly stop at 10 chips, especially when lounging in front of a 2-hour movie?

Well, for the health-conscious geeks among you, Icelandic designer Hafsteinn Júlíusson has come up with the perfect solution, the 0-calorie, paper-based chip, which he presented at Milano Design Week 2010: Slim Chips.

Named “Slim Chip” for obvious reasons, the basic ingredient here is non-toxic edible paper, almost nutritionless. Yes, you read it right! Slim Chips is actually edible flavored PAPER SNACK. In the process, organic colors are used along flavors in blueberry, sweet potato and peppermint. As far as taste is concerned, the designer puts it best: “It’s like eating tasty air. Don't get fat, just eat nothing.”

If you are an unconscious snack-addict the Slim Chips will help you avoid gaining excess weight with their "Don't get fat" motto and you might even curb your appetite for snacks altogether given the hefty price tag. A bag of slim chip will cost you $20. That is nearly ten times more expensive than Pringles and about triple the price of a carton of frozen blueberries for a bag of 'nothing'.

So would you, or would you not?

LV, Prefall 2010

There weren't any Afro wigs, but the vibe at Louis Vuitton's pre-fall presentation was just as playful as at the Spring ready-to-wear show—think crocheted tube socks in place of furry clogs and micro-mini cashmere sweater dresses instead of pleated kilts.

This season, the design backstory goes, the Vuitton woman has stumbled across a stash of brimming LV heritage trunks (lucky girl!). Inside them is a treasure trove of goodies, many with a 1960's slant, from a gray fox vest straight out of Love Story and a swingy cape cut from a vintage Vuitton blanket to reverse tweed skirtsuits and stripey handkerchief dresses.

And then there are the accessories: tote bags in steel lamé jacquard lined in quilted safety orange, and evening sandals complete with fur leg muffs. The collection may be young at heart, but it's 100 percent luxe.

So What.

I guess I just lost my boyfriend, I don't know where he went.
So I'm gonna spend my money, I'm not gonna pay his rent.
I got a brand new attitude, and I'm gonna wear it tonight.
I'm gonna get in trouble, I wanna start a fight.

So what, I'm still a rock star.
I got my rock moves and I don't need you.
And guess what, I'm havin' more fun.
And now that we're done I'm gonna show you tonight.
I'm alright, I'm just fine and you're a fool.

J. Crew Bridal Store, NY

Here Comes The Brides...

The J.Crew campaign to dress every girl, every day, soldiers on, and the retailer’s first bridal boutique makes a strong case that the wedding day should be no exception. The bi-level space on Madison Avenue marks the first expansion: J.Crew bridal collection, which launched in 2004 with three styles, is available all in one, bricks-and-mortar location, and despite the neighborhood, dress prices start around $300.

It also marks the debut of the new 769 cocktail collection, which will be mostly exclusive to the store. Though designed by the bridal team, head of wedding design Tom Mora is quick to note that it’s all-occasion cocktail fare, not just bridesmaid frocks. (A full rack of black dresses, not to mention a mannequin in sequined harem pants, bears him out.)

The downstairs, appointment-only bridal salon can accommodate a blushing bride-to-be and scores of family and friends, while upstairs, buyers can pick up nuptial accessories (collaborative and exclusive pieces from Lulu Frost, Miriam Haskell, Fenton/Fallon, and Albertus Swanepoel) and a few honeymoon necessities like Cosabella lingerie and Histoire de Parfums scents, too.

Executive creative director Jenna Lyons mused on a timeless truth of aisle-walkers: As much as things change, girls still want to be married in pretty dresses.

A Lonely Hunter

Everytime I close my eyes,
My heart sinks further down.
The moon has faded these nights.

I long for you every minute of my life.
I want more and more of you.
Like a hunter in the night,
I want to find you and make you mine.

Home Sweet Home

Home is a name, a word.
It is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke,
or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.
-Charles Dickens

I'm glad I'm home,
I've been too homesick.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

So kiss me and smile for me.
Tell me that you'll wait for me.

Monday, 5 July 2010

On Hold.

Somehow I am lost for words, for you, me and us.
Days grow shorter and my patience longer.
And I crave a dark room and a candle to waste time in.

Will you come to me now?
Is the moment right and the time now?
Will I ask these questions until age has ravaged me?

For now I sit and I breathe what I can of you.
And I burn your face into my mind.

I am not yet taken, but waiting.
And my heart is on hold
-when you are ready.
