Sasha Says...

"I am not interested in money.
I just wanna be wonderful."

Bla, Bla, Blahnik!

A great shoe can make a $20 outfit look like couture.
A poorly constructed shoe can make couture look like a cheap knockoff.
-Nina Garcia

You are what you wear is true.
A girl is as hot as the shoes she choose!

True Love's Kiss

Many a girl has waited long, for a husband brave or strong;
but I’m sure I never met any sort of woman yet
who could wait a hundred years,
free from fretting, free from fears.

Now, our story seems to show
that a century or so, late or early, matters not;
true love comes by fairy-lot.
Some old folk will even say it grows better by delay.

-Charles Perrault, The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods

Family:

The thing about a good marriage is,
even if a terrible mistake happens,
you just can't imagine your life with anyone else.

That's why you commit to each other.
That's why you make vows to each other;
that through the good or the bad, you'll just keep trying.

You're fighting not only for love...
You're fighting for something bigger than either one of you,
You're fighting for the family you've become.
You're fighting for the us you've become.
And that's really worth fighting for.

"I have done it. I have everything I want. I have made enough money to secure my family and that is all I care about."

Live Well and Spend Less?

Too many people spend money they haven't earned,
to buy things they don't want,
to impress people they don't like.

Appreciate what you've got, even the really small things.

For me, those small things are often domestic…
Everyday happiness, as opposed to one-off great bursts of pure ecstasy, is intricately tied in with everyday events: the jaunty-looking teapot that pours without dribbling, the children's bathtime, blossom in spring, an especially good book.

These things aren't sexy, or glamorous, or envy-making, but they are the fabric of all our days. Concentrating on them, and on all the small joys they provide, can be intensely fulfilling. Moaning because you can’t afford a $500 pair of shoes is not.

Learning to Fly

That's what I'm afraid of.
Not being enough.
Not good enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough.

Who are you when you try being everyone else's angel?
Where do you run to,
when you realize the reflection in the mirror isn't you anymore?
What will be your refuge from your own tears?
When is it time to stop and decide to follow your own path?
Why do you refuse to listen to your own words?

Will you let life pass you by this way,
you not voicing out the true you that's chained deep inside?

I am learning to have faith in myself.

Home Sweet Home

Home is a name, a word.
It is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke,
or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.
-Charles Dickens

I'm glad I'm home,
I've been too homesick.

# Carine Roitfeld

Among too many people in the fashion industry, one or two persona really stands out in the crowd:

I like to wear high heels with sweat pants,
to wear white shoes in the middle of winter.
I love when things are not going quite together.
Even when I'm old, I will dress like that.

Sometimes, when you go to the airport and look at people,
you see the worst looks.
But the worst looks can give you more ideas than the best looks.
-Carine Roitfeld

Carine, 53, has always been a charismatic Parisian in every detail of her life. She has immaculate taste, and she is beyond unconventional in her thinking. With some principles such the like as: a preference for the “now” rather than the “new,” a preference for imperfection rather than so-called good taste and an attitude driven by intuition rather than reason. Most of all, she has an innate ability to mix street culture and society, always avoiding the caricatures that can define both worlds and always recognizing the mix of both worlds as the only catalyst of energy and creativity.

Now the editor in chief of French Vogue, she is influential almost without knowing it. By choosing influence over power, she has an effortless credibility. Her definition of fashion is clearly hedonistic, embracing fashion’s immediacy but with a broad cultural vision that puts everything in perspective. She has always been fully committed to fashion and also gracious to all. She plays by her own refreshing rules, not by the kindergarten politics that often governs the business.

DID Situation?

(read: Damsel in Distress Situation)

Are you currently amidst this situation?
or have been huddling in it for some time?
Waiting for your prince charming to save the day?
Maybe, just maybe that's unnecessary...

This "stolen" piece from I'm Writing, You're Reading could be quite an enlightment. I find it delighting... Maybe you would too...

Your inner landscape.
Imagine it like an actual physical landscape.

And feelings you have..
those are just clouds, little puffs of nothing.
Small solitary objects that aren't connected to their surroundings.
They just float.

See them and name them.
Fear. Frustration. Aversion. Uncertainty.

Don't wish them away.

Let them be
the small solitary unconnected floating puffs
of nothing
that they can be.

Let's Open Doors!

Dear 2009,
Thank you for having summarized for me a marvelous year!

At the threshold of yet another beginning,
I'm recalling my previous contemplation at the exact time last year.
My resolution was
"I want to feel everything there is to feel, in this world."

And looking back, I think I really am leaving 2009 with great accomplishments. I've gone through a lot, it's far from a boring year.

2009 was about discovering myself.
Who I really am, what I want, where I'm heading.
Now, I'm fully loaded to surf through 2010.

Of course, I had my shares of failures and disappointments, heart-breaks and pains... But I'm not letting them stand on my way...

2010 is the year of transforming life!

Resolution: Open every door you come across, one after another.
Never stop.

So, let's get excited to flounce into the new year, with style of course (read: fashionable outfits)! Welcome 2010.

Do you believe in Fate?

Sometimes fate throws two lovers together,
only to rip them apart.
Sometimes a hero finally makes the right decision,
but the timing is wrong.
And timing is everything.
-Gossip Girl

I am not at all a superstitious girl. I judge current events upon solid facts and make careful considerations for every decision I'm about to make. But somehow, sometimes I find myself believing in fate. There are several matters in life in which no matter how hard you try, you'll just end up banging the wall over and over again.

Fate is "If something's not meant for you, it'll slip away from you anyway...". So, let go of what's not yours, the best would come in time?

The Big Question

If what I'm doing doesn't make me come alive, but killing me instead.
Should I quit, regardless of any other considerations?
Please give me some suggestions...

# Li Lo

Now, this is what you call a statement from a real woman. I may not always approve LL's lifestyle and endless gossips surrounding her... But I'm completely on her side for these words:

{I've heard that guys are intimidated by me,
even though I'm not an intimidating person.
I'm straightforward and people aren't used to that.}

Please give me an answer...

So, my dear friend... Please tell me....
Which one are we?

temporary
wrong time
too late
FOREVER

Cross the answer you like.

Freedom of the 1920s

"Fashion should empower you as much as it dresses you
-it should make you a femme fatale one moment and a romantic the next.
Fashion is there to transport you -it's escapist and seductive"
-John Galliano

The 1920s was the decade in which fashion entered the modern era. It was the decade in which women first liberated themselves from constricting fashions and began to wear more comfortable clothes (such as short skirts or pants).

Social customs and morals were relaxed in the optimism brought on by the end of the war and the booming of the stock market. New music and new dances came on the scene. American women won the right to vote in 1920 and were entering the workforce in record numbers. The women's rights movement had a strong effect on women's fashions.

Most importantly, the confining corset was discarded, as undergarments changed to suit the new fashions in this decade. Instead of drawers and knickers women were now able to wear panties which were more comfortable. The chemise or camisole was employed in place of the corset. During the early part of the decade, chemises paired with bloomers kept a woman covered beneath her outer garments.

For the first time in centuries, women's legs were seen with hemlines rising to the knee and dresses becoming more fitted. A more masculine look became popular, including flattened breasts and hips, short hairstyles known as the bob cut.

a Lil Reminder for Me

Never settle for anything less than love.
-Francois Fenelon

Because...
In the end, it’s still best to wait for the one you want,
rather than settle for what’s available.

It’s still best to wait for the one you love,
rather than to settle for the one who’s around.

It’s still best to wait for the right person,
because life’s too short to waste on the wrong one.

Finding Fashion...

Fashion
is not something that exists in dresses only.

Fashion is in the sky,
Fashion is in the street.
Fashion has to do with ideas,
The way we live,

What is happening.

-Coco Chanel

Don't you agree?
If fashion is simply about apparel, how dull and boring it would be.
So go out today, and get yourself an inspiration!
