New Trench, New Trend

Over the decades the trench has evolved into a favorite fashion piece for women, which has an air of sexiness and a hint of mystery attached to it. Given its humble beginnings the trench has managed to outlast every trend and has won over every new generation. With 2010’s take on the mini trench fashionistas and trendy teens are sure to embrace it once again.

The trench’s modern makeover includes fancy styling, with fuller skirts, draping, ruching and ruffles. Designers have played with sleeve lengths and proportions and have modified or done away with some of the traditional trench attributes. Gone is the traditional gabardine in favor of lighter more malleable fashion-friendly fabrics like linen, suede and silk.

The quickest way to update 2010's spring summer wardrobe is to invest in a trench coat, but make it short — a hemline that finishes just above the knee. This perennial fashion staple has been given a new lease-of-life, but still keeps its timeless and ageless appeal and easy glamor. Foxy knee-length crop styles in dramatic hues of pillar-box red, coral, fuchsia pink, yellow and teal are combined with bold patterns and prints.

Fe - thanks so much for visiting my blog and commenting on the 5 year post! It was lovely to read and I wanted to respond to your question...I ran away from that cottage at top speed! It looked like serenity, but that neighborhood was crazy! So noisy and racing cars and moody neighbors!! It took me 3 months to sleep soundly at the beach because it was soooo quiet and I was unaccustomed to non-stop noise.

Hope that answers your question.

And ps - hadn't seen your blog before so I'm especially happy you stopped by. Will visit you now for sure.

Also - did you enter the Melinda Maria giveaway for the pyramid spiked bangle?? Please feel free to do so if you are interested...it is a beautiful piece!!

Love love LOVE this editorial!!
I'm so tempted by the Burberry trench coat..But gosh, luckily I managed to save my own life, or should I say my bank account..

I'm thinking to get one from Zara, or Gap..Although I KNOW that I would never wear it here..They're just that hard to resist..

Great pieces, I have a sad story attached to a trench... I bought a fantastic black one, with a great skirt, knee-length. I wore it on the trip to NYC for Halloween and left it in my friend's car at the end of the night. I've never seen it again, and 2 years later, she still doesn't know where it went :( You've inspired me, it's time for a new one!

Liveee!!! You, one mean girl. I'm dead missing you here.... Please go back...

Hahahaha. Unfortunately it's as hot as ever here in Indonesia, Taj. We don't have winter, FYI. It's always the scorching 35 degrees celcius and up. Can you imagine that?
