In front of Paris haute couture fashion houses...
Natalia Vodianova is striking a pose.

DIOR

Mid-Century Muse
Natalia Vodianova strikes a pose outside the house's couture salons in John Galliano's Lisa Fonssagrives-inspired coat (its toile is to its right). The technical staff includes head dressmaker Florence Chehet (on sofa, to right) and head tailor Raffaele Ilardo (beneath ladder). Dior Haute Couture wool coat with patent leather peplum cummerbund, pony-hair hat, and calfskin heels.

Shear Genius
Vodianova wields dressmaking scissors in the garden of the designer's 18th-century couture house on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The workroom staff includes head dressmaker Martine Berger (seated, center), and head tailor Rosine Delaplace (seated, right). Christian Lacroix Haute Couture scarlet painted satin-and-organza bustier dress with sequined and embroidered noir lace sleeves and Chantilly-lace veil.

Mirror, Mirror
On Chanel's celebrated staircase, head dressmaker Martine Houdet (in black) admires the wedding dress she and her team created. Chanel Haute Couture alabaster embroidered-pearl-and-strass organza dress with layers of pleated tulle, and ruffled hat with silk camellias.


GAULTIER PARIS
Hoop Dreams
Some of Jean Paul Gaultier's atelier—from left, head dressmaker Mireille Simon, directrice Agnès de Rozières, and premières mains qualifiées Fanny Thinselin and Françoise Bavant (both standing)—with the experimental toiles they created for his most recent collection, in his couture salon in the Marais. On the balcony of the house salons, Vodianova wears Tisci's silk fringed dress. The couture technicians include directeur Richard Lagarde (second from left) and head tailor and dressmaker Marta Gil Costa (third from left).
