Slim Chips

No fat, no calories.

Have you ever looked at the nutritional information on the side of a bag of chips? 150 calories, 11 grams of fat… FOR 10 CHIPS! Can anyone here truly stop at 10 chips, especially when lounging in front of a 2-hour movie?

Well, for the health-conscious geeks among you, Icelandic designer Hafsteinn Júlíusson has come up with the perfect solution, the 0-calorie, paper-based chip, which he presented at Milano Design Week 2010: Slim Chips.

Named “Slim Chip” for obvious reasons, the basic ingredient here is non-toxic edible paper, almost nutritionless. Yes, you read it right! Slim Chips is actually edible flavored PAPER SNACK. In the process, organic colors are used along flavors in blueberry, sweet potato and peppermint. As far as taste is concerned, the designer puts it best: “It’s like eating tasty air. Don't get fat, just eat nothing.”

If you are an unconscious snack-addict the Slim Chips will help you avoid gaining excess weight with their "Don't get fat" motto and you might even curb your appetite for snacks altogether given the hefty price tag. A bag of slim chip will cost you $20. That is nearly ten times more expensive than Pringles and about triple the price of a carton of frozen blueberries for a bag of 'nothing'.

So would you, or would you not?

  26. I'm a number one fan of potato chips. I love Pringles and Lays. So I was like going crazily happy when I found out about this. Can this be true? My favorite chips with no calories? I can gobble them all up :D Too bad this isn't available in Indonesia. I really wanna give it a shot. I'm curious of how it tastes :p
